currently lusting for...

slouch back dress - Need Supply Co.

Bagley, Dolce Vita - Need Supply Co.

cropped trench coat - Nasty Gal

the abyss cuff, sass & bide - ShopBop

...more laidback essentials. The dress from Need Supply Co. screams effortless chic with it really being effortless and above all, comfortable. I can imagine myself just throwing it over my head after a whole hour contemplating what to wear and be completely happy with my last resort. Should've been my first resort in the first place. Nasty Gal's cropped trench grabbed me because of it having a detailed classic design, while keeping whimsically modern with the crop cut. The modernness continues with a more subtle inclusion of the storm flaps on both sides of the jacket under the arms. I had to grab this one, so this baby is already on its way to me :) Dress these pieces even more down with the hints of gold and you've got a glamorous casual Californian look.

tomboy

My boo left his dress shirts here (anything left in my closet is fair game, heh). So just glancing for something to wear, my curiosity piqued with what I would look like with his Burberry. I always imagined him wearing this shirt with khakis for a Hamptons look so I recreated my own (white bottoms are a must!). I've had these hand-me-down capris from my mom for ages so I'm glad I have a great top to pair it with. There's a beautiful floral detail on the waist I had wished the camera could capture but it was so bright outside. Burberry is one of my favorite brands for men's shirts, their classic and timeless coats, and most of all their beauty, especially with model Cara Delevingne. Just perfectly inspiring. Off track, sorry, anyway, I admire the check pattern but only when it's toned down like here and subtly noticeable. I put on my most gold jewelry to glam up and feminize the casual outfit. I wanted to wear this outfit for the whole day and night but knowing my clumsy self, something would've happened or dropped onto it  and I couldn't dare face my boo with that. As much as I love this boyfriend shirt on me, I still love it even more on my boyfriend.

geometric reverie

I'm so, so happy with this Threadsence necklace! I unexpectedly threw it on top of this ensemble during a hasty morning and it was like a eureka! moment. This small pop of yellow really offsets the huge amount of blue I have on. This silk shirt from Zara was a spontaneous purchase from last season so it's finally made its way out of the closet with a great comeback. It's addicting to stare at because of its magnificently bright, almost neon, blue. With so much color, it can be easy to end up looking like a rainbow (and not in a cute way!) but the trick is to find color complements.  Then make it easier on yourself to focus on one main color and sneak in pops of the complements like I did in this outfit. Orange and yellow are both complements of blue, as well as each other. I just realized my obsession with colors in my wardrobe and its strong effect on how my day will turn out. The more colorful I am, the more bright I feel :)

I found these unique sunnies that are superbly similar to the Prada Baroques. The arm's fanciful detail is obviously the center of attention but not so obvious to the stranger's eye unless it peeks out behind the curtain of hair. At such a small cost, there should be no resistance. It's become a day for making statements.

pretty pink pastel

I'm a sucker for pastels. I've waited a very, very long time for a perfect pretty pink blazer and passed up so many others. I practically lunged for this when I spotted it in Zara and luck must have been with me when it was the last xs. The material is lightweight, very comfortable, and a bit stretchy. The most important aspect is the fitted cut that's so prominently characteristic of all Zara blazers. I love that it's wearable to work because the color is still soft and not egregiously off-putting to more conservative professionals. You can slip this blazer on over darks or lights and instantly look brighter. I'm staring at the product page trying to hold back the temptation of checking out with the mint color...

(my obsession is not that obvious, right?)

color pop

Spring wear is always full of brights and patterns to compensate for the lack thereof during the dark shades of winter. Color is IN, but if your wardrobe is a little thin of bright yellows, pinks, and greens, no worries! Don't put away the winter wear just yet. Take that black knit and pair it with a yellow statement necklace like the one from Threadsence. To achieve the same color pop effect without going broke trying to replenish your closet, grab these pieces to complement your day and night outfits. I personally love to run in around in a comfortable white tee and denim cutoffs during sunny days, but throw one of these pieces on and I'm instantly simple-turned-chic. I already nabbed half of them ;)

From left to right clockwise:

3. Forever 21 $9.80

the world is a carousel of color

Took advantage of the overcast day in SoCal to parade around in silly, sequin ears in Disneyland. I watched the World of Color show for my first time and it was so spectacular and awe-inspiring. I was literally moved to so much emotion with all the childhood memories and feelings rushing back to me when they played "A Whole New World" and "Colors of the Wind" (in other words, I cried T_T). Since then they've been on repeat in my  iTunes. I had no intention of getting minnie mouse ears but it unintentionally topped off my outfit very well so I had to get them. Plus they were such a cute shiny version. More pics of my weekend to come later after I catch up on my life.
