digital strokes

Took it nice, comfy, and easy for my last day at MAGIC. Was already exhausted in the morning so a simple throw of a soft maxi and jumper really saved my day. I went straight for this Lavender Brown dress because of its vivid print, satiny soft fabric, and playful hi-lo hem. It's funny, I went through an obsessive hi-lo phase when it popped up, then I disdained it, then I accidentally fell in love with it again as apparent in my outfit choices for MAGIC. Anyway, you totally need to check out the new brand Lavender Brown if you like classy feminine cuts with bold and fun prints. I'm keeping them on my watch list.

Make sure to check back during the day for more posts on MAGIC!

P.S. For fun, I took an instagram approach to my photos...what do you think?

Top Ten MAGIC Discoveries: Part 1

MAGIC Tradeshow is a semi-annual tradeshow that brings together young and established brands from all over the nation and the world for tens of thousands of attendees to shop, connect, preview trends, and build business. I honestly did not know what I was getting into when I got there! MAGIC is so massive with massive crowds and massive exhibits. It was an amazing experience because I discovered so many new brands and met many new people that I'm excited to connect with. As hard as it was to pick favorites out of the hundreds of brands I've discovered,  I'll be going through my top ten discoveries from MAGIC over the next couple of days.

Number 1: Miss Me & MM Couture

First brand I encountered at MAGIC was Miss Me, which is this cool, All-American, contemporary brand that focuses on denim, not only for jeans but for tops and dresses as well. They have super cute knits, including this Western-inspired vest with fringe ties. Their newer line MM Couture is more feminine, fashion-forward, and dressy. They really know their bombers! Check out the digital print on the first bomber - how cool is that? It's even more technicolor in real life, which makes it one of my favorites from their Spring collection. Another one of my favorites is this velvet moto jacket that is so Cher Horowitz. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture, but I'm hoping to find one soon! (Quick trend forecast: velvet is so in).

Number 2: Lucca Couture

Lucca Couture is a chic, effortless brand catering to all types of girls - uptown, boho, edgy, you name it. Taking a sneak peek at their new SS13 collection is to die for, especially viewing those dainty daisy prints, eek! One of my favorites from their collection is this structured chambray shirt with mesh shoulder details. Such a chic new twist on a classic.

Number 3: Ellison

More aztec inspired bombers and chambrays from Ellison! Love that SS13 is picking up on putting new, fun spins on classic pieces. Ellison's line embodies super feminine pieces that are delicate and full of color, like this perfect garden party dress above.

Check back tomorrow for Part 2 of my top ten MAGIC discoveries!

a leather crush

This outfit is the embodiment of my ultimate, undying obsession with leather and tail skirts. Let me start with the ethereal and runway-worthy motion of this Lucca Couture skirt when you walk - it's just a bohemian dream. It totally encouraged me to strut even more down the aisles of MAGIC, no matter how tired my legs were from 3 days of nonstop standing and walking. The soaring skirt just thrilled me and gave my legs new life.  Now can we talk about this too-perfect-for-words soft leather top from Kahlo?! I have literally found my holy grail of fashion. I know, how can I hype a simple top like that? But I am standing by my hype. It was pure unlined leather, which honestly felt so amazing and light against the body and moved with me so easily. I have never fell in love with a piece of clothing until now and yes I know when it's love! It's when you can't let it go and you agonize when you have to. I just obsess over its perfect cut that can easily pair with high waisted anything or allow a midriff because the top just makes up for it. I have never been stopped by so many people asking who made this leather stunner. Sighs. Is it true that if it was meant to be it'll come back to you?

Road to Magic: Calico Ghost Town

As you may know, I was at MAGIC tradeshow in Las Vegas all last week fulfilling my duties as one of their official Digital Influencers. The whole journey was incredibly fabulous, eye-opening, and most of all, FUN! 25 other bloggers and I started our route to Vegas at Santa Monica on the Rue La La Blogger Bus (yes, a blogger bus that said "bloggers on board"!!) and made a pit stop along the way at Calico Ghost Town for a cool photo op and some midday fare. Who knew this little tourist destination existed on the way to Vegas! Other than it being 110°F, it was an awesome place to explore and prance around in our new wardrobe. Knowing that I'd have the desert as the backdrop, I channeled my inner Stevie Nicks (as Jenny put it) in my new dress from Last Night. There was nothing more freeing and quaint than having the open desert and sun surround you and long sleeves billowing in the hot wind.

love in my air

First day at MAGIC was crazy - there are literally hundreds of undiscovered young and old brands to see and fall in love with. So highlight of my day yesterday - getting to meet the creative team behind my favorite brand In My Air, including the genius designer Kyle and brand partner Isreal. I definitely got a little excited meeting the designer of the dress I'm wearing; putting a face behind the skilled work and design of a dress that I LOVE and makes me feel great? Yeah, just a teeny bit excited. I got to preview their SS13 collection, which is gorgeous and full of colors and texture mixtures you'd die over. I promise I'll share more of this brand with you all within the coming weeks, but for now, I need to get back into the craziness of MAGIC! Sorry for the lack of posts but I'll make up for it next week, promise ;)

If you're at PROJECT, check out IN MY AIR's booth at 12123!

This printy little dress came my way from Shoppalu and seemingly induced a print on print attack from its accessories. Couldn't resist! Is it ever too much?

midsummer calling

I was a bit poolside inspired for the Vena Cava party last night at the Chateau Marmont - a bee-yooo-tiful wonderland kind of estate you can easily get lost in. Super historic, super hollywood. Decided to take my twirly Dress the Population skirt out for the night, which looks amazing going down the stairs by the way, like royally amazing. And I love that there's an actual multipurpose use for my Cia.Maritima swimsuit since swim season is coming to a close (boohoo). Printed bandeau swimsuits = great investment. And I finally got to bring out my newest and most adored baby Chanel out, my first of hopefully many of a collection. I was really debating getting the obvious black classic for my first, but I couldn't get away from this dusty blue from their winter classics because it's a bit different, yet still goes with so much. I'm just a big fan of blue anyhow as you can see.

end of a rainbow

So this is what my friend would call a literal interpretation of the end of a rainbow: I being the pot of gold. Since you guys know my obsession with my rainbow Mara Hoffman shorts (seen here, here), you can correctly guess this Stela 9 Hacienda backpack is the next best thing. It's richly handcrafted in Guatemala with probably my favorite textile to ever exist and genuine leather. And it's another awesome brand where you can be stylishly responsible! A portion of their proceeds go back to the communities that make these beautiful bags. By the way, I've forgotten how carrying a backpack is so much more hands free and convenient; love that I can finally go back to easier childhood days with some style. Check out Stela 9 for more unique weekenders, backpacks, and bags...this rad Isabel Huipil Weekender is next on my list ♥_♥
