I'm proud to say that I've done a great job conquering my outrageous impulse-buying habit that's been my demise for at least 7 years. Shopping used to be my daily habit online and mall-perusing filled my weekends. Now I barely do either and I'm so OK with that. I used to feel like I'm missing out on the latest 'it' pieces and trends if I don't continuously shop, but I'm more happy now having a very edited closet that has gone through spring cleaning 3 times over. It's taught me to be more selective with timeless and classic pieces that will last me through the seasons. Thus, it's been a long, long time since I've bought something for myself until I recently went through the summer Shopbop sale and ran into these clear oxford shoes by Messeca. They were originally $200ish and I had scored them at $58, a beyond reasonable price for well-made shoes of a classic style. Plus oxford shoes were next on my list of wardrobe classics to invest in, so I knew this was fate and I had to seal the deal. I couldn't be happier with my investment! They've since sold out on Shopbop, but I found them on sale for $69 at Urban Outfitters (and get 15% off with code: HOTDAZE)!
Oh and another classic wardrobe addition: a denim shirtdress. I like classics with a twist so I love the babydoll style of this dress from Motel. It's super cool and adorable at the same time and it's one of those easy "I'm lazy, but I want to look good" pieces that make the outfit.
