post nemo

Still playing catch up...this is from my third day at NYFW, after Nemo came and passed and all that was left were slosh and sheets of ice. I was still getting the hang of 'layering' so I've learned to wear leggings under these beautifully soft silk pants from Kahlo to keep my legs warm, while I failwhale up top and freeze myself with just a sheer IN MY AIR tank. But only when the wind catches its way under my jacket. Also I must say, my 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli was a trooper during Nemo. Being patent couldn't have been more perfect for surviving the snow and rain. I loved my experience at NYFW for Fall/Winter collections, but (call me a big baby for saying this) I just don't think I can handle the extreme cold of NY. And apparently it wasn't even that cold, for NY standards. I'm just too spoiled by the SoCal sunshine, truthfully. I love seeing the layers and knits and amazing textures used for Fall, but I think next time would be just fine from the comfort of my own bed while perusing Style.com. However I am already very excited and looking forward to NYFW in September when the weather is great and when my favorite kinds of collections come through the runway. My crew is already set (Chanelle, Jenny, looking at you) so NYFW (and possibly LFW) can't come soon enough!

dress up

Hi everyone! I'm still trying to catch up on life (and blog posts) after New York and Vegas back to back. It was such a whirlwind, though nothing but amazing experiences came out of it. Back during NYFW, it's always a must to stop by Bollare in New York to A) visit my wonderful friends Kristen, Landon, and Dara and B) see the newest and greatest Bollare has to offer. I got to play dress up with these beautiful Haute Hippie and Oscar De La Renta dresses from Marissa Collections, a new high end designer boutique. As soon as I stepped into the dressing room, this baby blue tweed Oscar De La Renta dress was screaming at me from the racks. It's so regal with amazing details and please, it's Oscar De La Renta. I felt like a Kate Middleton kind of princess. Next, I had to pick up the heavy Haute Hippie sequin dress because anything shiny and Gatsby-inspired steals my eyes instantly. I'd dress that up and down on the daily.  You guys don't understand how hard it is to put something so beautiful back on the racks, but pictures last forever, right? Thanks Kristen for letting me run around in gorgeous dresses!

well worn

Man does it feel good to be back in some classic Chucks this week for MAGIC tradeshow in Vegas. I love my heels just as much as any girl, but I've been around the block with MAGIC and heels are dead to me (this week only). I'm excited to bring out these Converse Chuck Taylors from their new Well Worn collection, which features washed canvases and a subtle worn-in look to signify living life to the fullest. I'm very nostalgic and it makes me think of my older Chucks that have been with me since high school, through times of laughing with my friends at the In n Out parking lot, running around the beautiful lake in Irvine, rolling down the lush hills in Berkeley, finding perfect rooftops to see the bridge across the Bay, and that much more. I remember looking down at my Chucks the entire time to not miss a step, while climbing rocks and boulders to discover my most favorite spot in the world (as revealed in an earlier post) 8 years ago. And since then it's my grab and go shoes for climbing those rocks whenever I feel like staring at the clear blue skies for some thoughts. Well Worns celebrate experience and a life well-lived and my Converses definitely sit through my most cherished moments (sorry heels, but those moments are more like blurs).

sunday funday: Penelope's Vintage

LOVE this super fun slumber party lookbook from Penelope's Vintage. It's so amazingly styled by my dear friend and owner of PV, Chanelle, and I have to say, the bubbles in the first pic are a magical little touch. It's making me want to call up my best girl friends for some old school MASH and music video recreations.  Check out her online vintage store for some great one-of-a-kind pieces!
