The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic is the penultimate event for my kind of partying. This annual affair in historic Will Rogers State Park is a legitimate excuse to get dressy in the nicest Sunday-esque attire and do nothing but drink and be merry with good champagne and good company. People watching is much more fascinating and inspiring when all party-goers are dressed to the nines in their gorgeous flowy frocks and well-tailored suits, because sipping champagne next to a captivating woman in her Valentino is so much more charming than a girl gone wild in cutoffs and a crop top.
To create our coupling style for the day, Kyle and I sought the sleek, modern vibes of Trina Turk and Mr. Turk for a California-cool perspective on polo chic. Trina Turk's passion for modernist architecture and the grand landscape of Golden State is perfectly fashioned in this beautifully feminine, structural dress that is a total dress hobbyist's collectors piece. Its vibrant fuchsia print composited on cooling gray makes this dress a season-less piece for Spring garden parties or Winter soirees and its flattering cut with deep hidden pockets are just the delicious icing on the cake. And as optimistic and artsy as Trina Turk's designs are, Mr. Turk takes that and cuts comfortable, sharp suits and shirts for men. Kyle's glen plaid suit in a refined blue took an everyday piece from uninspired to refreshing and his love of color and print shines through with his bold shirt in a stained glass print. We really didn't coordinate our outfit choices, but as it came together the morning of, we realized we might just be a real couple if we can match without trying.
Having just as much fun as the last, Kyle and I will be making the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic a yearly tradition to get our generous fix of yellow bubbly and elegant fashion. Hope to see more of you there next October!
