A Spontaneous Snow Day

Our romance in the little moments.

Valentine's Day is just a few short days away and Kyle and I still don't have a clue what we should be up to. We may just drive north or south along the coast and end up somewhere when we're feeling a glass of wine. We each have our own hectic schedules, which makes it difficult to plan ahead. Sometimes it feels like we don't see each other a whole day even though we both work at home. But whenever we do have a free moment, we strive to make it just about us and nothing else. I love the spare minutes when we can go out to grab a coffee and stroll one lap around Larchmont Village or when we can simply cuddle on the couch for a quick 20-minute nap in between meetings. No matter how much free time or how little you have, it's important to make each minute a blessed one, and that's what I find deeply romantic.

We were in New York two weeks ago after the blizzard had just hit. The sun was out and warm, the snow was fresh - these made it my best New York winter experience yet! Kyle was working the entire week and I had my own appointments (k, maybe they were mostly spa appointments), so we only saw each other when we kissed goodnight. I looked forward to Saturday because it was our one  free day together to explore the city or just stay in and order room service (either sounded equally appealing). We don't see snow every day, so let's get out of this joint! New York is a very familiar city to us, so tourist-y things aren't interesting. However, the one place we always have to fit into our trip is Central Park. This place never fails to astound and inspire us with its breathtaking beauty. I'll never forget its magical, golden tones during fall and in the winter, the park is truly a white wonderland.

As LA folk, our wardrobe is 98% seasonless. But with our frequent trips to the East Coast, we've started building up our winter wardrobe slowly but surely. This season, we planned well ahead to stay warm and cozy, especially with the news of the huge blizzard, by shopping UGG® Australia for our all-weather essentials. We love their fashion-forward collection of leather boots that are seriously built to withstand the elements without sacrificing style. It's easy to get caught up in wearing a lot of black in New York, so I wanted to break the palette up and add elegant camel tones to my look with the boots and gloves I wore. Can you imagine how it felt wearing a dress with just socks in the winter? The day surprisingly wasn't that cold! Maybe it was because I stayed warm in everything else, but it was miraculous being able to look cute for once in winter wear (instead of bundling in every layer I can find to look like a homeless person). Kyle made the trapper hat a statement and looked so sleek in these handsome boots. Never seen a guy look this good in UGG® Australia amIright?

Every time I visit Central Park, I'm alway seeing something new. Kyle and I explored the paths and decided to hop the tiny fences to have some fun in the snow. It was so silly, but we had the best time and it's these times that I cherish the playfulness and spontaneity in our relationship. Let's see where we end up this Valentine's Day weekend!

  4. I've been a HUGE fan of your blog & style and have always tried to recreate it ( on a budget) but I refuse to buy fast fashion as its killing our environment. I recently started renting from StyleLend.com and now on a mission to get all my favorite bloggers to lend some of their items. It would be so cool as a fan to be able to experience the actual designer brand. If you read your comments hopefully you will consider it for your fans.
