A Summer's Day

A weekend perfectly spent in Malibu.

The Getty Villa is one of my favorite places to spend a weekend morning in Malibu. You can call it an overrated spot as a tourist, but I think it's so underrated as a local getaway.  I think of the Getty Villa as highly as I consider the MET in New York City as a visual place of splendor, inspiration, a place where even amongst the biggest tourist crowd, you will find space for solitude. The Getty Villa does a great job of limiting the crowd size with allotted reservation times for guests. This past weekend, we drove up the PCH on the sunniest day to visit the Getty Villa's latest exhibition "Plato in LA: Contemporary Artists' Visions". The span of contemporary art in such a classical, romantic villa was a stunning exhibition. As my bump grows bigger, it gets a little harder and harder to style without effort. I haven't shopped maternity departments or maternity brands, because I don't believe there's a need to buy a whole new wardrobe just to cater your body for a few months. I just find myself spending a bit more time looking for brands that fit my overall aesthetic and that feature more empire waist or A-line dresses that flow. I had to quit looking at Reformation for the last two months, because every style they put out accentuates the waist (I'll be back soon enough Ref!). Dôen is undoubtedly my go-to brand for dresses that satisfy my romantic mood and growing bump. I'm also thankful that I'm pregnant during the summer, when light, breezy dresses are plenty in soft cottons, linens, and silks. I'm vying for something from Loup Charmant or another silk wrap dress from Diane Von Furstenberg (so flattering for every body, including one with a bump!). There have been a few times I jumped with excitement when a brand I love puts out something easy to wear like this column dress from Designers Remix, the one I'm wearing above. Below, I put together a selection of dresses I'm loving right now that are versatile for those with and without a bump!
