LOCALE: Maru Coffee on Hillhurst SCENE: Seeking refuge from domestic routine, I quietly peek at the world moving past in between moments of reading a short story on the author's introspective disposition on telling a short story well. The Paris Review makes a great cafe companion.  As soon as the bottom of the cup shows face, I contemplate whether an extra latte's worth of 'me' time is obliged and the answer is always yes. LOCALE: Thousand Steps Beach SCENE: Some goods from Papa's Tacos and a fresh young coconut in hand make a gratuitous treat after a couple hundred steps down to our spot in the sand, unconcerned of how it will feel like a thousand going back up come dusk. Low tide beckons the reckless adventure beyond the caves, to the mythical saltwater pools that transport you to a cinematic scene in which you are the starring mermaid. DRESS: A Zimmermann Dress that does florals with sophistication.
