sun crushin

Splendid
Splendid

Still desperately clinging onto the final days of warm sun and pool time. It's sad to see the day getting darker much sooner, so the sun is just becoming more and more precious. Yes, I'm a sun worshipper! So I'm still getting in my most summery outfits while it's appropriate.  Both shirt and shorts are from Splendid. I've always loved their entire collection of basic silhouettes in classic prints in fun colors. Since it's actually a bit chilly as the night turns, I added this cute paisley Nepali by TDM Design scarf with orange pom poms. So fun!

I think I'm finally checking out of denial that Fall is just around the corner. In fact, I'm actually getting excited about the layers, the deeper hues, and all kinds of boots, like these gorgeous Belle by Sigerson boots perfect for strolling the chilly sidewalks. It's nice to change up the wardrobe throughout the seasons and after a whole summer of color and prints, I'm ready to embrace some minimalist basics with a twist.

3. Alexander Wang Donna hobo

sugar sugar

This girly Sugarlips dress put me in a retro fun kind of mood, where the soundtrack of my day was the Archies song "Sugar, Sugar" from the 60s. Kinda felt like a candy girrll.

LAST NIGHT Dress Giveaway

Shop Last Night
Shop Last Night

I'm a proud mama! I would like to formally introduce you to my newest baby, LAST NIGHT.  As you may know if I had to choose between any wardrobe necessity, I'd [literally] put all my money on dresses. They're easy, versatile, so feminine, and so fun to style!

Over the past few years, I would obsessively shop online, mostly for dresses. I knew when all the new arrivals were online at the top e-stores and hours of my day would be gone like that. The hours would go to searching every single site, looking for the next dress to wear for my upcoming trip to Vegas or for the nearest holiday party or just to add to my overflowing collection. But it got tiring, going through my long list of shopping bookmarks, though my dress obsession still needed to be satiated. I had wished for a long time that there was a single store that carried all the dresses I could ever need that fit my aesthetic. Realizing that it was nonexistent, I set out to create my own space online to share my obsession with other like-minded girls. I'm really happy to finally present to you the newest online destination for dresses, LAST NIGHT. Each piece is handpicked by me, reflecting my colorful, feminine style and a fun, free-spirited essence.

To celebrate its recent launch, I'm hosting a giveaway for you wonderfully supportive readers! The winner will receive the dress of her choice. coexist

The earthy colors and wild print of this Lady Marshmallow dress inspired me to get out into the open trails by my house where I found this shady little clearing. I love how the dress seamlessly blends into the rock bed making me feel literally one with nature (I know I'm so corny sometimes). The fabric has a dreamy flow when the wind catches it and the long fringes are so much fun. I have so much appreciation for the place this dress took me to because it's the first time I stepped out of my house and into the sun since NYFW.  I've been stuck in front of my computer 8 hours a day catching up on life and improving my store bit by bit.  But I'm already dreaming of New York again - which I'm so happy to go back to in November! Only two months away...

zou bisou

It's become an instant love affair with something I've dreamed of wearing - palazzo pants. These gorgeous Line & Dot pants are a deep ruby red with the most perfectly flattering cut, that will look great on anyone (I promise). I couldn't help but channel my inner Megan Draper and I was a bit tempted to bust out my own rendition of zou bisou bisou in the privacy of my room (k maybe I did). Back to the topic, these pants are definitely going to be my 'it' piece of the holidays. Don't be afraid to try out palazzo pants; they may look intimidating, especially if you're on the shorter side, but put on a pair of heels and you'll own them.

my hair care

Taking care of my hair is very much important to me as taking care of my skin - so that means spending just as much money and time into it.  For years as a child I just used a regular hair regime that consisted of Garnier Fructis from the drugstore - which isn't terrible at all! But every person's hair is different and you need to take some time to really research and consider what is healthy and beneficial for your own head. I have very thick hair, which I like to keep long, so it ends up being dry with split ends. However my hair easily gets oily up top as well. So finally after doing research on how to minimize oiliness, I found out about sulfate-free haircare. There's an ingredient in every shampoo (that's not sulfate-free) called Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) or Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate (ALS). They are basically super cheap cleaning agents that cause all the bubbles when you lather and strip your hair of all oils. So it's pretty much doing its job right? Well for people like me, because it takes away every last oil on my hair, it dries my hair out and at the same time causes my scalp to overproduce oil, which is why my hair can get oily quicker than usual. So I've been avoiding those sulfates at all cost for 6 years and I can definitely say my hair has never been better. It feels more moisturized and I can wash my hair every other day now, keeping it more healthy.

Onto some of my HG products as of late. I've tried plenty of sulfate-free haircare of the past 6 years and some are amazing, some are complete duds. The ones I've found that are just right are Bangstyle Hydrating Shampoo and Smoothing Conditioner. The hydrating shampoo noticeably leaves your hair more moisturized after a single wash and the conditioner keeps it sleek and smooth. It's the only haircare that's so far done very well softening my long hair. Plus it totally keeps the extra oils at bay. While my hair is still damp, I rub in a pump of Moroccanoil, which is so luxuriously fragrant like coconuts and gives your hair an extra layer of moisture and shine. It also acts as a heat protectant before the next step, which is to use a curling wand like this one from Sultra to give my hair loose, beachy waves. The 1" (or bigger) wand is exactly the tool you need, not a curler with a clamp! Trust. I then run my fingers through the curls and set them with another half pump of Moroccanoil to give it a relaxed look. Lastly I spray a bit of Bangstyle Sea Salt Spray to give it volume and natural hold. These 5 steps are sure fire ingredients to give you the best hair you can ask for.

Bangstyle is available at select salons as well as Moroccanoil.

1. Bangstyle Hydrating Shampoo
2. Bangstyle Smoothing Conditioner
3. Moroccanoil Hair Treatment
4. Sultra The Bombshell Curling Iron
5. Bangstyle Sea Salt Spray
