summa summatime

Perfect refreshing summertime salad: watermelon with shaved red onion, basil, feta, fresh arugula, and sherry vinaigrette from summer kitchen bake shop on College Ave.

I've marked College as my go to place whenever I feel closed up or need fresh sun. I always come home energized and victorious from the day walking past the mom and pop shops where you can get find your perfect bowler hat, get a pure organice body scrub, flip through pages of new rare and familiar books, purchase vintage Dior flats, get a fresh homemade lavender soda, and eat the best comfort food. My favorite Italian, ice cream, Japanese, and coffee are all conveniently neighbors along these two blocks. Thankfully I found the time to hit up every one of these spots during my short stay in the Bay and will post more later.

lace & snakes

I found this pretty navy lace bra from Free People that goes so well under a see through or low cut. I've been wearing it constantly for the last two weeks and purposely building outfits around it. The gray snake blouse is an immediate favorite of mine because it's so versatile and light. It delicately drapes towards the center with a longer tail. I absolutely love snakeskin and tiger print and the occasional leopard although I'm pretty picky with it. Lets see how these two go together tomorrow.

San Francisco

I'm up in the Bay this week and what a perfect week to come up! Summer in the Bay seems to be finally coming around now with the warm breezes and high sun. I spent lazy Sunday lounging in the park by the marina and Palace of Fine Arts. It's my favorite place in San Francisco; it is such an escape from the city and the architecture is so beautiful to stare at. After napping under the sun for an hour, we made our way to our reservation at Wayfare Tavern. We've been wanting to try this for a long time and let's just say, the anticipation is well worth it. Now I can't stop thinking about the chocolate cream pie made with Sharffenberger chocolate; just the best chocolate there is.

Betty for a day

So I found Bakesale Betty's fried chicken and cole slaw recipe in an old SF Gate news article! Apparently it's not much of a big secret as I thought. Now I just need to find her recipe for her insanely addictive ginger molasses cookies...

Random but I'm due a huge kudos to Alice Waters. Her progenies have carried on to start their own restaurants and eateries such as Ici, Quince, Pizzaiolo, Acme Bread, and Ms. Bakesale Betty herself.  It's an understatement to say that Alice Waters and Chez Panisse have been a paramount influence in American cooking, most notably in the Bay Area. And if it wasn't for Chez Panisse's impact on their chefs, I wouldn't be able to enjoy my now favorite ice cream at Ici and everyone knows I go there at least once a week. This year marks their 40th anniversary on August 28th and many celebrations are already in preparation which you can find here.

**Update**
omg what?? Betty (er, Alison) now sells her ginger molasses cookie mix in William Sonoma stores! I feel like a kid on Christmas morning...I'mgoingnowbye
