The Monarch Room

A night at The Monarch Room.

Blue Pearl coat.

I'm still coming down from an unbelievable trip to New York, that has completely changed my perspective on life in the big city. A full recap of my adventure will come shortly, but here's a little peek into one of my favorite events of the week.

To grasp a true New Yorker experience, Kyle and I ventured for dinner at the fairly new restaurant, The Monarch Room, just steps away from where I perched in Milk Studios for MADE Fashion Week two months prior. It's a Fashion Week hot spot, and we can certainly see why. Roaming through the nondescript street to find The Monarch Room was an adventurous discovery of a luxuriously sexy hole-in-the-wall. If there was a place for Jay Gatsby or Sam Rothstein to hole up and indulge in decadent suppers in dark corners, the industrial-chic yet elegant vibe of the Monarch Room would make it theirs. Dark polished wood, burgundy leather booths and deco light fixtures welcome you to an intimate space that cradles you in your own party's atmosphere no matter in which table you sit. Bring your best uptown dresses ladies - this is the place to show it off.

Kyle and I sifted through the inspired New American menu and loved our savory meal choices such as the tender pork shoulder with crispy onion rings and the classic grilled octopus (our must-try on every menu). The braised short rib ribbon pasta was a hearty and fulfilling appetizer that was worthy of making itself an entree. We didn't get to try as many cocktails as we should have being that this was at the tail-end of our trip and we were a bit too tired to party like that; we quit while we were ahead, but that only means we're coming back to The Monarch Room on our next trip early 2015 for an indulgent nightcap at their handsome marble bar and more delicious fare.

For a sultry warm respite from the cold, hop into The Monarch Room this winter in Meatpacking District.
